Fluid administration apparatus, usually including the plastic bag containing the mixture to be infused and a long, flexible clear plastic tube to be connected to the needle or catheter. There is also usually a chamber built into the line where a pool of fluid collects and maintains a steady flow, free of air bubbles. Most sets work by using gravity, often called gravity infusion.
Giving sets are regularly used to provide fluid therapy, to administer medicines, and blood products (e.g., blood & platelets)
